Blessed Earth Bathing Instructions
Blessed Earth® Detox Clay is a 100% pure sodium bentonite clay known for its high cation exchange capacity (CEC) of 98-107 meq/100g; meaning it carries a strong negative ionic charge when mixed with warm water. This property enables it to attract and bind positively charged toxins, facilitating their removal through the skin.
🛁 How to Prepare a Clay Bath
Measure the Clay
Determine the appropriate amount of clay based on your needs. Avoid inhaling the clay dust; wearing a dust mask is recommended. Seal the jar tightly after use and store it in a dry place.
Fill the Tub
Begin filling the bathtub with hot water. Sprinkle the measured clay into the running water, similar to dusting icing sugar. Use a stainless steel or plastic whisk to stir the clay until fully dissolved. Continue filling the tub, leaving space to adjust the water temperature later.
Let the Clay Hydrate
After mixing, allow the clay to sit for 5 minutes to fully hydrate. Adjust the water temperature to between 100°F and 103°F (warm like a baby's bath, not so hot like a hot tub).
Bathing
Carefully step into the tub; the clay may make surfaces slippery. Submerge as much of your body as possible. If full immersion isn't possible, lie on one side for half the time, then switch to the other side.
Post-Bath Rinse
After the allotted time, carefully exit the tub. Take a tepid shower and shampoo your hair in a separate shower stall. If a separate shower isn't available, dry off as best as possible and proceed to the next step.
Drain and Clean the Tub
Open the tub drain to let the water out. Use a sponge or your hand to swish any remaining clay particles down the drain. Add more water if necessary. Cleanup is typically easy, as most clay will drain away with the water.
Moisturize and Hydrate
After the bath, moisturize your skin to prevent dryness. Dress warmly until your pores close. It's recommended to drink an electrolyte-rich beverage, such as Emergen-C® or ConcenTrace® Trace Mineral Drops, to replenish minerals.
📏 Suggested Clay Amount & Bath Duration
Condition Severity | Clay Amount | Time in Tub |
---|---|---|
Mild/Health Maintenance | 1 – 2½ cups | 20 – 30 minutes |
Moderate/Minor Ailments | 1 – 2 cups | 15 – 25 minutes |
Chronic/Severe | ½ – 1½ cups | 10 – 20 minutes |
Note: These are general guidelines. Start with the lower end of the clay amount and bath duration, especially for first-time use. If no adverse reactions occur, you may gradually increase the clay by ¼ cup and extend the bath time by 5 minutes, not exceeding 2 cups of clay or 30 minutes total. You can also experiment with alternating increasing the amount of clay or the time in tub.
⚠️ Important Precautions
Potential Reactions:
Some individuals may experience temporary symptoms such as fatigue, light headedness, or skin irritation. These typically resolve within 24–48 hours.
Rare Reactions:
In very rare cases, nausea or vomiting may occur, indicating a rapid release of toxins. If this happens, exit the bath immediately.
Consult a Healthcare Provider:
Use the Blessed Earth® Bentonite Clay Detox Bath only under the advice of a physician if you have a heart condition, high or low blood pressure, are on any pharmaceutical medication, or are currently ill with a viral or bacterial infection. Avoid using the bath if you are sick.
Avoid Inhalation:
Do not inhale the clay powder. Using a dust mask during preparation is recommended.
🦶 Foot Bath Instructions
Clay foot baths offer a viable alternative to full tub baths, and are recommended when one does not have access to a bathtub, or when one is too ill, too toxic, or too fragile to take a tub bath. While the feet are indeed a powerful channel for detoxification of the body, foot baths are a more gentle application than full tub baths. Use a plastic bucket or basin.
Clay Amount: Use ½ – 2 cups of Blessed Earth® Detox Clay.
Water Temperature: Fill a bucket with hot water (100°F–103°F) up to your calves.
Mixing: Sprinkle the clay into the water and stir thoroughly with a stainless steel or plastic whisk. Let it stand for 5 minutes.
Soaking: Place your feet in the water for 15–30 minutes, following the same guidelines as for tub baths.
Aftercare: After the foot bath, rinse and moisturize your feet. Drink an electrolyte-rich beverage to replenish minerals.
📅 Recommended Bath Frequency
Full Bath: Once a week, but not more than once every 72 hours.
Footbath: Every 2 to 3 days.
